What's In My Camera Bag!

Today, I thought, what better way to let you into an extremely important part of my life, than to take you on a quick, “What In My Camera Bag?” tour?! Photography is so special to me because it lets me hold on to the most precious moments in my life forever and ever and relive them whenever I want, and I can’t wait to share the things that help me do that with you! I have everything linked for you too so that you can build a beautiful camera bag that will never steer you wrong! PS, scroll to the bottom to see an IG reel of everything, OG YouTuber style baby,

First up, (of course), is my camera! I shoot on the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. The price tag is SO intimidating, trust me I know, but it is my baby! If you are a beginner or don’t want to drop that much on a camera right away, the Canon Rebel T7 DSLR is a GREAT alternative!

Next up is a 24-70mm 2.8 lens. I love this lens because it is one of the most versatile on the market and I can do a lot with it, without having to take time to change out my gear. It captures beautiful portraits with that dreamy blurry background that we all know and love, and it also captures larger scale scenes, like weddings, with the wider angle functions. The BEST!

Another lens I love and like to have on me when I’m shooting is a good 16-35mm wide-angle lens. True to its name, this lens can take incredibly clear pictures of wide views without distorting the corners. If you are a beginner, you probably don’t need this one in your camera bag, but it is a fun one to play with if you ever decide to take photography seriously and I love mine!

One more lens and the most user-friendly AND wallet-friendly of the bunch is the “nifty fifty” 50mm lens! If you are planning on shooting portraits of mainly people, or still subjects, the 50mm lens is your gal! It gives you the maximum depth of field to achieve that beautiful blurry background and crisp subjects!

In addition to my 5D Mark IV, I also bring along an older model of a Canon rebel, the T2i, + the kit lenses that come with it. It always makes me feel good to just have a backup if anything were to ever happen!

Essential to every photographer’s camera bag are memory cards! And honestly, get a bunch of these! You always want to make sure you won’t run out of room or not have backups in case one breaks. A memory card reader is also perfect to have on hand!

Any gen z-er here can attest to the fact that a ring light is SO much more useful than you might think! this one comes on a tripod and is amazing for portraits in a pinch, or recording those Tik Toks you’ve been planning to make you go viral!!

Mini Tripod. Not much more to say about this one. It is PERFECT for your phone and super lightweight too so it would be easy to throw in your regular purse if you’re out and about and don’t want to take your whole camera bag.

This little remote has saved my life so many times when my “instagram husband” (hahaha) and I need to take pictures of myself! The first one linked specifically links to DSLR cameras and this one links to your phone or iPad via Bluetooth!

If you are a wedding photographer or planning on shooting in much longer situations, a backup battery, (or two) and a charger is ESSENTIAL! I can’t tell you how many times these babies have saved me!

Unless you’ve really been living under a rock for the past few years, I have no doubt that you’ve noticed how HUGE film photography has gotten, even among amateur shooters! There is something about the grainy, somewhat muted colors that I think makes us all feel nostalgic, and let me tell you, I am HERE FOR IT! There are TONS of film cameras you can look into, but one of my favorites and the easiest to use is the Canon AE-1. Not only is it easy on the wallet, but it is the cutest lil vintage-looking camera I have ever seen and I cannot get enough! Don’t forget the film to go with it!

Last, but certainly not least are these GORGEOUS fractal prism filters that create the coolest effects EVER! Seriously. If you are looking to switch things up without dropping thousands of dollars on a new lens… I got you, girl.

And there you have it! I hope that you enjoyed my little tribute to the “What’s in my Bag?” trend and can’t wait to see what you do with all of your gear! If you want more photography tips, definitely check out my IG and my Pinterest, where I add new things almost every single day! HAPPY SHOOTING!
